I’ve been reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
As I was reading last night, this line hit me.
It was the Alchemist speaking to the shepherd boy. He was asking the shepherd boy to find life in the desert, there was nothing to see other than sand.
The shepherd boy kicked his horse and it sprang forward and galloped and galloped the Alchemist followed and when they halted they looked and beneath a rock, they found a creature. The horse had found another life. The truth of the statement struck me. I lay there and paused for a moment to allow it to sink in.
I’m not in the desert and neither are you, but what does it mean for me?
When I engage in life, things begin to happen.
When I withdraw, life seems to fall away.
Are you engaging? You may nod your head because there isn’t a spare minute in the day to scratch yourself, you’re soo busy. But that’s not the question – it’s “Are you engaging?”
What does it take to engage, what does engaging look like?
What does engaging in life look like to you?
What do you attract into your life when you engage?
